Deciding to move on from the factory turbo is a big decision. Do you go with essentially a stuffed turbo for "easier fitment" but accept the horsepower limitations due to having to work within an existing design? Or, do you go with a full top mount setup which moves you farther away from stock and in many cases, results in a less fun street car due to sacrificing spool up performance and transient boost response for bigger power? At Remnant Performance, we sought to give you the best of both worlds in the 65 OMEGΛ. Starting with the stock turbine housing / exhaust manifold, we perfected the excellent twin-scroll design with properly sized runners and an enlarged turbine housing for maximizing flow and minimizing lag. As with all of our OMEGΛ series turbos, they are based on the tenets of proven G-Series technology but enhanced to allow for more horsepower, flow, optimized spool and maximum capability in a given application. The properly sized turbine wheel, combined with the large 65.4mm point-milled billet compressor wheel, provides a solution with quick spool and the flow to keep tq levels up even out to high rpm, resulting in high horsepower capability. What are the Results?
93 Octane
A lot of power can be made on even 93 octane as can be seen here with the results of Keith Stine’s Supra (Extreme Boost Care). This dyno was accomplished with the Remnant Performance GAMMA System and the Remnant Performance Leviathan Turbo-Back Exhaust System - 520whp / 595tq
What about with Ethanol?
Our awesome customer Doug Agambar managed to make a whopping 892WHP / 1009TQ at just 31psi and the turbo has much more to go!!
What about tuning for the track / to maximize the longevity of the stock Transmission?
Sameh tuned one of our awesome customers in Dubai, Hamad, to accomplish just this task! 674WHP / 598TQ!!
What else is needed?
The kit comes with pretty much everything that you need. It can be run even with stock Downpipe but in order to maximize its potential, you will need the following:
- Extra Fueling - Direct or Port Injection - While you can utilize stock fueling capability, you will run out of fuel around 600whp. Since HP is simply about adding more air and the corresponding additional amount of fuel. In order to add more fuel, you either need to add Port Injection (PI) or beef up the factory Direct Injection (DI) system. While beefing up the factory DI system may seem immediately appealing, it is very expensive ($5K+) and it lacks many of the benefits of Port Injection such as cooling the intake charge and cleaning the valves. For these reasons we recommend adding Port Injection to the factory DI system. - Tune -You will need to get a custom tune designed to utilize the major capability of this new turbo for your fuel(s) of choice. Any of the major tune vendors should be able to accommodate this setup including SumoTuned who tunes the Remnant Supra, Sameh, Mikey Botti, Marin Nelson, Jeff Payne, F80 Paul, Twisted Tuning, and many others.
