What is The Remnant Performance GAMMA System and why should I choose it?
"Efficiency" has been the guiding principle for Remnant Performance in our R&D for the MKV Supra and Gen 1 & 2 B58 Platforms. It's the core motivation for almost every choice we make from how we design, to how we manufacture, how we go to market, and what we choose to work on. We always seek to streamline the delivery of our complete solutions that are designed in-house to efficiently and cost-effectively address market needs.
After a bigger turbo, the first major power limitation in building a faster Gen1 or Gen2 B58 Car or MKV Supra is fuel flow, as the factory pump(s) can support ~600WHP maximum. Following hot on the heels of fuel limitations, the next major limitation is both thermal saturation and weakness of the factory intake manifold. So the question is, “how do we efficiently solve these two problems?”
This is precisely why The Remnant Performance Gamma System exists! Designed in a Joint Venture with Tyrian Performance, The Remnant Performance Gamma System is a 2 Stage upgradeable solution to simultaneously solve the fuel limitations, thermal management issues and structural integrity issues in the OEM design in BMW Vehicles that utilize the Gen1 & Gen2 B58 engine.
Stage 1 of the Remnant Performance GAMMA System solves the fueling problem with a complete port injection fuel setup: fuel rail, injector plate, Bosch core 1050cc injectors, all necessary fittings, and compatibility with existing flex fuel and e85 products. For most street cars, GAMMA Stage 1 and an upgraded low pressure pump will be all that's needed, if all they are looking for is fuel flow. The GAMMA Stage 1 will be capable of providing enough fueling to feed ~900WHP even on full Ethanol.
However, to reach towards the new fuel limits, you have to deal with both thermal saturation of the factory intake manifold, and especially on the Gen1 cars, the weakness of the factory plastic Intake Manifold.
Stage 2 of the Remnant Performance GAMMA System solves the heat issue in two ways while simultaneously working with the Stage 1 of the solution to provide a structurally sound intake manifold that will not explode based on boost. The first way the GAMMA Stage 2 solves the heat issue is by thermally isolating the Engine head from the GAMMA Intake Manifold by placing a proprietary GAMMA Phenolic Spacer between the Stage 1 PI plate and the Stage 2 Intake Manifold. This vastly reduces heat transfer from the engine into the Intake Manifold. The second way that GAMMA Stage 2 solves the heat issue is through the design of the Remnant Performance GAMMA Air-To-Water (A2W) Intake Manifold itself. Combining a proprietary, single-pass, ultra-efficient, industry leading 13-row Remnant Performance core with Billet End tanks and large -12AN lines and fittings, we were able to achieve proper coolant flow, rapidly removing heat out of the system while avoiding heat-soak. The design of the GAMMA intake manifold simultaneously achieves maximum flow without any restrictions and the new MAP sensor placement in the cavity directly behind the core instead of on a cylinder specific runner makes sure that your car’s ECU/DME is fed the most accurate data for tuning. Here's where the GAMMA Intake Manifold truly sets itself apart from the pack: Unlike other intake manifolds, any B58 that already has port injection can KEEP THEIR CURRENT PI Plate SETUP! NO "sunk costs", NO struggling to sell old parts on forums, NO re-buying the same functionality!
Although it allows you to retain your current PI Plate setup (either a 3rd party plate or previous GAMMA Stage 1 Purchase), the GAMMA Stage 2 Intake Manifold also comes with an additional fuel rail to help solve the problem of proper fuel atomization for High HP builds. As long as the car isn’t relying on Port Injection as the primary fuel source (Up to ~900WHP / 1050cc) the firing angle of the fuel injectors in the GAMMA Stage 1 (or other 3rd party products) is just fine. Although moving the injectors up top to the GAMMA Stage2’s Fuel rail is an option at lower HP levels, at higher HP levels, the firing angle of those injectors needs to be directly at the valve for proper atomization as the car effectively becomes a port injected car where it’s relying primarily on the fuel from the added port injectors. So the additional fuel rail above the Intake Manifold on GAMMA Stage 2 provides the proper injector angle for very high HP builds and allows the GAMMA System to be the right solution for you regardless of HP needs!
“So with 2 fuel rails, does that mean I NEED/HAVE to run 12 injectors?” No, definitely not! The GAMMA Stage 2’s Intake Manifold will come with 6 Dummy Injectors/Plugs to properly seal off whichever fuel rail/ports are not in use!
In Summary, there is an upgrade path for everyone out there! For customers who choose the GAMMA Stage 1 system (or already have a 3rd party PI Plate), they can grow to Stage 2 at a later time. Stage 2 of the Remnant Performance GAMMA system includes the GAMMA Intake Manifold & Fuel Rail, AN coolant lines, AN coolant adapter fittings, 6 Dummy Injectors and the GAMMA Phenolic Spacer. You can freely choose your own solution for Flex Fuel, ECU Integration, and Fuel Pump as The GAMMA System is compatible with all commercially available solutions!
